Even Digital Natives Should Verify Sources

by · January 22, 2014

How often have you jumped on to the Internet to search? Often enough, I am sure. Doubtlessly, the Internet and other communication technologies offer an entertaining and information escape. But, how easy is it to find information that you need and be a hundred percent sure that it’s factual, reliable and absolutely accurate? Not always.

The information overload that we face every day comes with privacy and safety concerns for both people and organizations, making it difficult to assess the quality and legitimacy of most information. Needless to say, anyone can share information online, but not everything shared can be trusted.

The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ictQATAR) encourages youth to verify authenticity of online information through a new video that urges Qatari youth to be more selective about the sources of online information. We hope you enjoy it and find it useful. Share it with your family, friends, colleagues and everyone you think can benefit from this.

Stay smart. Keep connected.
