Digital Qatar readers are invited to attend a major international Internet conference being organized by ISOC Qatar in partnership with the Internet Society (ISOC), ictQATAR and Carnegie Mellon Qatar on 27th November 2012.
The event – iNET Qatar: ‘The Rise of the Arab Information Society’ – will explore a number of issues with which Digital Qatar readers will be very familiar.
This includes topics such as:
- Arab businesses on the Internet
- Development of Online Arabic content
- The state of the Internet in the Arab World
- Trends of Arab Internet users; and
- Internet Governance in the Arab World
iNET Qatar promises to be is a great opportunity to network and learn from some of the key people driving the development of the Internet across our region and in Qatar.
This includes key speakers such as ictQATAR’s Secretary General, Dr. Hessa Al Jaber, as well as other high profile regional participants like Qusai Al-Shatti, Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Information Technology, Dr. Imad Hoballah, Chairman and CEO of the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority in Lebanon, Taghreedat co-founder Mina Nagy and Khaled Koubaa, Policy Manager for Google in North Africa.
They will be joined by a number of international experts who are also taking part in the event, including Professor William Dutton from Oxford University, Taylor Reynolds, Senior Economist at the OECD and Dr. Robert Pepper, Vice President, Global Technology Policy, Cisco.
From my perspective I’m excited to see international Internet experts coming to Qatar and I’m also excited about the possibility of meeting – and learning – from other people from across the local and regional Internet communities.
See you there!
