So I have hinted about this on Twitter, but it is official – Anthony Williams, co-author of Wikinomics will be coming to Doha as part of ictQATAR’s Connected Speakers Series on March 8, 2010, 6 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton. Wikinomics, and now the follow-up book, Macrowikinomics, are redefining how people are thinking about business, governance and even social interactions.
Both books are must reads. In Wikinomics, Williams and his co-author Don Tapscott, look at how companies have used mass collaboration (peer production) and open source technologies to succeed, and argue that companies that fail to do this in the future will be in big trouble. It is a very accessible read and certainly essential for aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders.
In Macrowikinomics, the authors go beyond business and look at individuals and other institutions, such as governments and not-for-profit organizations. The booked makes you realize how profound the collaboration effect can be – and likely is – in all aspects of your life.
Registration for the event will open in a few weeks on ictQATAR’s website. Be sure to do your reading before then, and if you don’t have enough time to crank out two books before March, check out Williams’ blog, which covers all the hottest issues in the digital world, including wikileaks, government 2.0, open systems, intellectual property, global entrepreneurship and even climate change.
Williams is a dynamic speaker and will certainly make you think. Hope to see you March 8th for Anthony Williams!
