Oh Google, you big tease. I was excited by the news last week that Google was opening its trial Google Voice service to everyone. Well reading on, it is not for everyone, just those in the United States at this point. But this is still progress. Google Voice’s move from testing to full deployment hopefully means that in the future there will be an international version (maybe wishful thinking).
So what exactly is Google Voice? The video below gives a quick overview of the service.
Less annoyances and more awesomeness. Sounds awesome! If the intro video peaked your interest, I would recommend watching the whole series of short videos Google produced on specific features such as voicemail transcription, SMS to email, sharing voicemails, conference calls and blocking callers.
Google Voice really seems like an excellent platform to combine all your telephony needs. I especially like the ability to have voicemails transcribed and have a call come to all your phones. The amount of personalization you can do for individual callers is excellent too. We all have those people who we want to talk to whenever, wherever they call – and of course those that we want to avoid at all times. And of course the great thing is the cost – zero.
I’ll definitely be watching Google Voice for an international addition. Do you think you would use it?
